Our Kids Are Not Okay!


This week on Monday, Kenyan parents took their Children back to School since March2020, you see there is something about Kenyan parents and always wanting their kids to be in school they don't like them staying home. They tend to complain when the holidays are too long but March 2020 the children went on forced holiday indeed 2020 is a to remember by parents.

After 9 months of holiday the Children are going back to school, who ever thought this season would ever come.

Let's focus on the children going to school I remember back in the days when we were kids, the word Social Distancing was truly unheard of in fact if your parents told you not to play with  certain kids you felt bad and wondered what wrong they had done. You see Children do not know boundaries and they make friends so easily with anyone. So do you think the 1.5 meters will apply on the kids your guess is as good as mine!

The wearing of Masks is a whole story all together. You see kids have this culture of sharing or trying other people's things its also somehow an adults thing.  Look at this scenario whereby a child comes with a fancy face mask and their friends want to try out despite several warnings from teachers and parents but kids hear one thing and just do another they are kids. And so don't be shocked if your children come home with a another mask or has tried out several masks while in school.😭😭😢😢I tell you its only God who protects these children. 

Back when we were in school we looked forward to events, especially when it involved interacting with other students from other Schools with no Social Distance or Masks and now there are no events no Sports, Prize giving Days and there will be it will have the Covid -19 protocols which seem to be so boring.

And Virtual Graduations ooh Graduations to me is this one time you come together to celebrate your achievements together with your classmates, family and friends and you all sit the Graduation Square and hear your names being called out the hugs, laughter and celebrations this is what we called graduations. Not sitting in front of a screen and waiting to see your name pop up. Congratulations to all who graduated Virtually.👏👏👏

And so guess what the new item on the back to school list is face masks ooh yes. This indeed is a strange addition😲😲😲😲😲



Indeed this season school will be strange & it will be hard to adjust........

The Power of A Story.

As I begin to write this blog I am reminded of the song,   This is My Story. This Is My Song.  I remember when my brother passed on. My mum and sister sat down and drafted my late brother's eulogy. I mean we have all gone to funerals and heard people's eulogies being read. But that is simply not their full story. Its just a fraction of the person's life and it has been written by another person it simply not first hand narration. The eulogies only focus on the positive side of the person's life. They don't write about the struggles, challenges, the bad or the ugly.  I remember one time during a seminar the facilitator gave us a task of writing our eulogies. Like what do we want people to hear on that day about us. A story is a full account of someone's life. It captures the places they have been, the people they have met, what they have achieved, their high & low moments. Their experiences in the various seasons they went through in life. Diversity In Culture.

Ps 133:1 - '' How good & Pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity .'' Fact - According to ChatGpt (our go to person 😅)there are 43 tribes in Kenya.  Each tribe has its own language, customs, traditional clothing, and beliefs , contributing to Kenya’s rich cultural diversity.  I remember when I was pursuing my International Baccalaureate Studies(IBS). This is a two year Post High School Course that enables students to go abroad for their University studies. You see while I was in High School I had a dream of going outside the country for my university studies. My choices were the UK or South Africa.
