Kenya, it's That Time
And Let us not forget the words of our 2nd President Moi (May His Soul Rest In Perfect Peace), 'Siasa Mbaya, Maisha Mbaya meaning Bad Politics = Bad Life.
It reminds me of the Scripture in Jeremiah 29:7 that states Also, seek the peace & Prosperity of the city which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you will prosper. Since the day I came across this Scripture it has taught me the importance of praying for the country.
Welcome to Kenya, a country that will decide its fate for the next five(5) on 9th August. And this will be my third time to vote as a citizen of this Nation. How exciting to be part of the Democratic process.
Back in the days Elections were held in December it was the great event after Christmas! Now its August right in the middle of the year. And the ballot box has changed from being a black metallic to being transparent box & you can actually see votes that have been cast. ππππ
If you have just landed in this country and you happen to be walking around the streets you won't fail to notice posters with photos of different persons yes those are campaign posters talk of the Paper litter that comes with campaigns.
The noise is something else.....I remember this one afternoon yes it was my off day that one day I get to rest. As I was in the middle of a good nap boom my little slumber was cut short by loudspeakers only to realise that one of the presidential candidate (I don't support ππ ) was campaigning about 15km away but it sounded like it was just outside our doorstepπππ. I shared with a friend later that day as I complained and they were quick to remind me how the previous day my preferred presidential candidate was campaigning at the same venue and I was so excited I didn't utter a word of complain. π π π π These loudspeakers literary put your life on a standstill.
Campaign season is that time when power exchange hands and the people have the power. It is the time when the politician/aspirant goes with all humility to the people and through this audience seeks their votes. We the people all over a sudden become very important. This is the season that roads are fixed, pending projects are completed & the time the 'mweshimiwa' is seen very often like that husband who all over sudden is spending time at home. πππ weuh!
They go to Churches and after fundraising for an ongoing project they kneel down for the Man/Woman of God to lay his/her hands on them, Because They believe that with powers from above together with their contribution /offertory will grant them victory, talk of only remembering or acknowledging God in times of need. God have mercy on your children!
And this is an ongoing debate as some churches have refused or declined politicians from standing on the pulpit and addressing the congregation or giving money that is gotten from corruption the question to be asked is how can we tell the difference between corruption and clean money.
This reminds me of a church service I once attended and the Church happened to be a fundraising for an ongoing project. It was just before the General Elections, all those vying for various political seats in the area were present & behold they were each given a chance to speak and in just a few minutes the the church had turned into political rally with the congregation cheering on their prefeed candidate let us just say by the time the service was over we were so tired don't talk about the hunger. Listening to politicians at times can be tiresome. We have mastered the script.
The reality is after 9th August they will stop coming to your Villages, attending, there will be NO name Calling & Wanjiku(common Mwanachi) will be forgotten...…
For now we enjoy the memes, debates & just the season we are in as a Nation.
Dear Kenyans, Let Peace Prevail in our Land!

Very true , your friend got me lol, I hate it when I hear another candidate campaigning and not mine, lol.....noel
