My Nigerian Dream!

Nigeria, the Giant of Africa its also known as the most populus country in Africa.
Nigeria is one of the few Nations in Africa who still upholds their culture.

Mention the word Nigeria and the first thing that comes to one's mind in the Naija Movies - Nollywood. Being a big fan of naija movies I will tell you this Industry has evolved it has grown. From the days where all movies would end with the caption to God be the Glory. But to come to think of it maybe it was a way of acknowldging God. To produce a movie is no joke or walk in the park.

I remember back those days. It's only in Naija movies where the clock shows 10am but outside is dark and a Man would be asking his wife what time is this that you are coming home and point at the clock.
Back those days it was only in Nigerian movies where in between the movie you would see the caption 5 years later 🀣🀣🀣.

The movies are a true reflection of the Nigerian Society as they showcase the day to day life of Nigerians. They center around Politics/Elections, Marraiges/Families & how people use witchcraft(juju) to get what their desire only at the end for it to backfire on them.
This is an industry that I am sure has contributed greatly to the economy of Nigeria, created countless jobs & given the country visibilty to the outside world.

Personally I am a big fan of these naija movies. Thanks to these movies I have come to know Nigeria as if I have visited the country physically. I am the type of person who can name for you Nigerian states. I will tell you for a fact the Igbo's are like the kikuyu tribe in Kenya very enterprenual.

You really cant speak about Naija movies without mentioning Patience Ozokwor the woman who plays the role of a wicked mother in law that no one prays or wishes to have at any costs. She is truly a household name.

I remember when a very good friend of mine introduced me to Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie the Nigerian Authour & I instantly fell in love with her because I get to experience the Nigerian society through reading. And show loyalty I have read all her books.

And so a few years ago I remember I met this Nigerian boy 😜through another friend. And instantly I knew my Nigerian dream was manifesting. I thought of how we would do this colourful Nigerian traditional wedding how we would re - locate to Nigeria and join the likes of Emmy Kosgei (Kenyan Gospel Singer married to a Nigerian) live in Abuja often referd to as the playground for the rich. This is where you find International Expertraites. I thought of how I would easily fit in the Nigearian society and to make things intresting he had started teaching me their language. 😊 Nigeria here I come was my slogan. I would imagine how I would call my dear husband Oga babe. Oga is an Igbo origin which simply means senior or boss. It is used to show respect to somene in high position. I also thought of all the places I would visit or naming my children. I was truly chassing this Nigerian dream.

But months later let us just say things didnt work out and we had to break up or should I say part ways 😭😭😭😭and just like that My Nigerian dream was shattered. I remember a friend of mine saying the relationship had made me to feel like I was walking in Air. I simply was cloud chasing.

But my love for Nigeria & naija movies is still 100%. Name any Nigerian Movie on Netflix & I will tell you I have watched it. These movies have taught me how to appreciate our rich African Culture!

Long Live Nollywood.
