Lockdown Shenanigans ... ...

Image
I used the word shenanigans, because I have a friend(It's at Cess) who simply laughs and makes fun to the fact that I can't pronounce the word shenanigans well if I cant say it I surely can spell it 😁 Ooh yes, here in +254 we are back to lockdown😥😦😧and why it had happened during Easter again is indeed a wonder and a story for another day. The world was introduced to this terminology last year (March) when the world was hit by the Covid -19 Pandemic or some refer to it as a Plandemic. In simple  terms a lockdown is a state of isolation or restricted. But let me say this, I look back when we went on a Lockdown last year for almost six months😪😪😪 yes six(6) months of just staying indoors. Indeed there are positive aspects of it or memories worth remembering. Before Lockdown my dearest mummy used to think that my sister & I really don't know much about cooking. A culture began on Social Media of people posting their lockdown cooking skills. My sister & I weren...

Saving A Soul

Image
It was last year, on All Soul's Day. Yes the memory is still fresh as if it had happened yesterday. All Soul's Day also known as the Commemoration of all the Faithful Departed is a day of Prayer and remembrance for the Souls of those gone before us, which is observed by the Catholic Faithful. Its a day of obligation where Catholics are encouraged to attend the Holy Eucharist Celebration(Holy Mass).  Personally the Mass gives me that reality check that one day just one day I will leave this earth and go back to my maker and that goes for all of us. And on that particular day the Priest encouraged to pray for a peaceful death. After Mass I bumped into a great friend of mine, as we were walking & catching up, a  man approached us and asked us where City Park was, my friend didn't have an idea I on the other hand knew the Park so well as it was in my neighborhood, but I couldn't help but think of why he would be going there yet it was around 6pm and we are living in tim...

The Tin Concept, a saving Culture.

Image
Recently our church group decided to do a clean up, de clutter our cupboards/storage in anticipation of moving them to a new venue. Any time you embark on a task of de cluttering and clean up it's usually a time of going back memory lane, it took us back to where we began as a group and he just laughed at the things we used those days a good example was the hard copy posters of our events we would make and pin on the notice board of various institutions. And today we create e-fliers which we circulate on electronic devices across all our social media networks. Ooh Yes times have really changed. But what our attention was these Black boxes that had a small opening, at first we were all in agreement that we should just dispose them since to majority of  us thought they had no use and they were just occupying space for nothing. Until one of the ladies showed  us this simple concept.  And the Concept goes like this the tin has an opening on the top where you can put money in ...

Our Kids Are Not Okay!

Image
This week on Monday, Kenyan parents took their Children back to School since March2020, you see there is something about Kenyan parents and always wanting their kids to be in school they don't like them staying home. They tend to complain when the holidays are too long but March 2020 the children went on forced holiday indeed 2020 is a to remember by parents. After 9 months of holiday the Children are going back to school, who ever thought this season would ever come. Let's focus on the children going to school I remember back in the days when we were kids, the word Social Distancing was truly unheard of in fact if your parents told you not to play with  certain kids you felt bad and wondered what wrong they had done. You see Children do not know boundaries and they make friends so easily with anyone. So do you think the 1.5 meters will apply on the kids your guess is as good as mine! The wearing of Masks is a whole story all together. You see kids have this culture of sharing ...

The New Year Challenge !

Image
As I write this it's countdown down to the end of 2020, and hello 2021. Indeed we have every reason to thank God for enabling us to see the end of this year(2020). It was a year full of a lot of uncertainties so many would have loved to see the end of 2020 but they simply didn't make it. Let me be the the first to wish you A Happy New Year, To me it's New Beginnings.   Let me introduce you to the New Year Challenge,  all you will need is a Jar or a huge container & each day when something happens that is worth a Thanksgiving you simply take a piece of paper and write that thing you are grateful of and place it inside the Jar. And come the end of 2021 you will have more reasons to say Imela Papa Imela. It could be the best 2021 Family Challenge.

Touch A Life

Someone once said 'You are not too poor to give neither are you too Rich to Receive'   Ooh yes Christmas is on Friday, and with all we have gone through this year, Christmas may not be exciting for everyone. Ooh yes it's been a tough year and a lot has happened in the lives of people. Some lost their Jobs, closed business or were even forced to relocate back to the Village. For them who have nothing there is nothing to look forward to this festive season. Then there are those in Children homes or abandoned they do not know what it means to have a family during the festive seasons they are used to being alone. We all seem to be busy with our lives, not being mindful of our brothers and sisters. Humanity has become so self centered all we hear these days is Me, Myself and I. And there is need to break this mentality.  And so this Christmas season make a difference in another person's life. Its the little things that count and matter even if it means bu...

Christmas Back in the Day

Image
Ooh Yes here in Kenya each year after Jamuhuri Day, the Christmas Countdown begins. It's exactly a week to Christmas. Let me tell you for me Christmas back in the days, as we grew up was memorable something you look back with laughter and smiles over the experiences. I remember immediately schools closed my dearest mother together with her wonderful sisters would transport/ship we their dear children to the Village. Nakuru, Njoro to be precise is like home to me literary. And the hosts who happened to be my maternal grandparents were just wonderful & may their souls Rest In Perfect Peace🙏🙏🙏 In a village setup when the kids from the city arrived it was indeed a big deal, it was the talk of the village never mind the never ending stares from the villagers you could definitely differentiate someone from the city and a village dweller. But friendships were still formed. You see this is where our bond as cousins was formed and strengthened, for a whole month especially as girls...
